My company which is called Research Through Gaming makes Games for Research purposes. Rather than a traditional online survey, people can take part in a more game-like experience of surveys with the Games my company produces. The people who take part in surveys are usually called panel members, sample or respondents but I have created the word 'Playspondent' to describe that these people are not quite 'game-players' in the traditional sense, and not quite 'respondents' in the traditional sense either. So I invented the word Playspondent as an amalgamation of the word Player and Respondent. These 'Playspondents' who sign up to my company to take part in Research Games can also be bought or sold, just as traditional market research sample is bought or sold. For example: A client of mine may wish to purchase a Research Game for research but they also want to purchase the people who will take part in that research if they have no panel themselves. Therefore, the Client may request to purchase 500 Playspondents for research. (This of course means purchasing the right to survey those people via their email address, not purchase the person themselves!). The word Playspondent is also an extension of my brands identity and is now being used in the Market Research industry as a word associated with my company Research Through Gaming. I want to protect this word as my own as it describes a good I offer (the use of Playspondents) and the type of people who take part in my Research Games.
